Analisis Makna Lirik Lagu dalam Album Manusia Karya Tulus: Kajian Semantik

Abstract

This study aims to describe the grammatical meanings contained in the song lyrics on the album Manusia by Tulus. This study utilizes a qualitative descriptive approach with semantic studies. The theory applied is the theory of grammatical meaning according to Pateda (2001) which states that grammatical meaning is the meaning that emerges as a result of grammatical processes, which include affixation, reduplication, and composition. The research data sources are lyrics from ten songs on the album Manusia by Tulus obtained through the Spotify application. Data collection was carried out using the listening method and note-taking technique, while data analysis was carried out using the referential matching approach with the Sorting of Determining Elements (PUP) method. The results of the study show that the song lyrics in the album Manusia contain various forms of grammatical meanings formed through the processes of affixation, reduplication, and composition. The process of adding affixation is the most dominant form found, especially the use of the prefixes ber- and meN- which play a role in forming the meaning of actions, states, and processes. The findings of this study indicate that the use of grammatical meanings in song lyrics plays an important role in clarifying meaning and strengthening the delivery of messages and life experiences that the songwriter wants to convey to the listener. Thus, semantic studies of grammatical meaning can provide a deeper understanding of the use of language in song lyrics.
