Abstract

Differences in staff competencies and technological readiness present challenges to the development of digital school libraries. This community service initiative aims to strengthen library management knowledge and service skills among junior high school librarians across Palembang through e-Library training. The manuscript draws on data covering 36 participants from 36 schools. A participatory approach comprises needs assessment, collaborative planning, six training sessions, guided practice, mentoring, and reflection. Evaluation uses pre-tests and post-tests, practical assessments, implementation records, and user feedback, analyzed descriptively. The results indicate an increase in mean knowledge scores from 53.75 to 74.17, representing a gain of 20.42 points; 34 participants improved, one remained unchanged, and one declined. Mean practical skills scores increased from 51.11 to 76.53. During mentoring, 30 schools were recorded as fully implementing cataloguing and backup procedures, while six implemented them partially. Resolved assistance requests increased from 414 of 623 requests to 546 of 620 requests. These findings illustrate how technical capacity development may support library service improvement, although they do not establish empirical effectiveness or sustained social change. Recommendations include needs-based mentoring, an interschool consultation forum, institutional support, and follow-up evaluation to verify skills application and service quality.
