Abstract

Integrating local wisdom into Islamic education has become increasingly relevant since the Ministry of Religious Affairs introduced the Love-Based Curriculum (Kurikulum Berbasis Cinta, KBC) for madrasahs in 2025. However, existing studies remain fragmented, and few connect KBC and local wisdom systematically. This study aims to formulate a framework for integrating local wisdom into KBC-based Islamic education that fits the current conditions of madrasahs. A qualitative library research design was used. The data consisted of two policy documents and scientific articles published between 2020 and 2026, retrieved from Google Scholar, Garuda, and publisher websites and analyzed thematically. The findings show that local wisdom and the five themes of KBC (Panca Cinta) converge on values concerning God and the Messenger, knowledge, the environment, others, and the nation. Integration can be pursued through the four KBC pathways, namely intracurricular, co-curricular, extracurricular, and madrasah culture, with teacher modelling, dialogue, habituation, and digital literacy as the main mechanisms. Teacher readiness, contextual teaching materials, and affective assessment determine whether integration is substantive or merely symbolic. Madrasahs therefore need to map local wisdom, strengthen teacher training, and develop observable behavioral indicators. Empirical evidence remains limited, so further research is needed.
